Presentation Title: “What Is Biodiversity?”
Richard Richards is a professor of philosophy and a Leadership Board Faculty Fellow at The University of Alabama. He received his PhD from Johns Hopkins University, where he received a certificate in the history and philosophy of science, medicine, and technology.
His work is primarily in the history and philosophy of biology and on a variety of topics: Darwin, species, biological classification, sexual selection, phylogenetic inference and evidence.
His book, The Species Problem, was published in 2010 by Cambridge University Press. He is working on another book with Cambridge, titled Biological Classification: A Philosophical Introduction.
